"We didn’t set out to beat the fastest socks in cycling."

After the Veto Cycling 1.0 sock outperformed every premium sock in our first round of testing, we had one lingering question:

How would it compare to socks engineered purely for aerodynamic advantage?

To find out, we extended our wind tunnel testing at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub (SSEH) - this time against market-leading aero-specific socks including the Rule 28 Aero Sock and the NoPinz Flowsock. These products are designed with textured panels, bonded seams, and aggressive cuff shaping - all in the name of saving watts.

The Set-Up

We tested Veto Cycling 1.0 alongside two of the most respected aerodynamic socks on the market:

  • a favourite among time triallists and track specialists.
  • developed with aerodynamics-first design for elite racing.

The tests were performed independently at the SSEH, the state-of-the-art facility trusted by UCI teams and Olympic programs.

Like our earlier premium sock testing, all socks were tested at real-world speeds: 30 kph, 40 kph, and 50 kph.

The Results Surprised Us

We never expected to be top. We only wanted to satisfy our curiosity; to understand the difference between dedicated top aero socks and our comfort orientated product.

The result was mind-blowing. We had it checked - and double-checked - by the experts at SSEH. They validated it.

The Numbers

At every speed tested, the Veto Cycling 1.0 sock produced the lowest aerodynamic drag.

At 50 kph, Veto saved over 11 watts compared to Rule 28.

That’s a meaningful difference whether you're sprinting for a finish line or just chasing a segment on Strava!

Brand 30 kph 40 kph 50 kph
Veto Cycling 1.0 130.8 W 297.8 W 572.6 W
NoPinz Flowsock 131.9 W 300.0 W 581.7 W
Rule 28 132.5 W 304.7 W 584.1 W

Note: Lower wattage indicates better aerodynamic performance.

Visualising the Advantage

These charts highlight how Veto Cycling 1.0 surprisingly outperformed two of the leading aero-specific socks in wind tunnel testing across 30, 40, and 50 kph.

What This Means for You

We didn’t set out to beat the fastest socks in cycling - just to make a great one. But the wind tunnel says otherwise. The Veto Cycling 1.0 sock isn’t just “fast for a comfort sock.” It’s simply fast.

The testing shows it outperforms market-leading aero socks, while still delivering the all-day comfort and premium fit we designed it for.

We still can’t believe it ourselves.

Whether you’re racing, training, or riding for coffee with friends, you’ll go faster - without sacrificing comfort.
